San Marino

The fairytale Republic

THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO, THE OLDEST REPUBLIC OF THE WORLD, IS PERCHED METICULOUSLY ON THE RIDGES OF MOUNT TITANO AND SURROUNDED BY THE EMILIA ROMAGNA AND MARCHE REGION.

Among the long history of 1700 years San Marino has a strong past of resilience and preservation, a deeply rooted culture, and a political system unparalleled. In 2008 the historic hill town of San Marino, together with the Mount Titano, became a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The historical center sits on top of the majestic Mount Titano, in the so-called city of San Marino: the heart of the Republic lies here, a well-kept jewel.

Either climbing the narrow alleys or slowly moving through the medieval walled town means encountering enchanted castle towers, magnificent churches, and unique museums, as well as souvenir shops and a wide selection of typical restaurants and cafes. The majestic views over the surrounding countryside and the Adriatic Riviera are gorgeous and make San Marino one of the world’s most fascinating countries.
